Safety Notice – Galvanised Wire Anchor Strops

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE: SAR Galvanised Wire Anchor Strop

We have received feedback from a user who has discovered a SAR 2.0m Galvanised Wire Anchor Strop which had an incorrectly terminated connection eye. 
Whilst there have been no reports of accidents relating to this, we are issuing a NOTICE FOR IMMEDIATE INSPECTION of all SAR Galvanised Wire Anchor Strops manufactured since 1st March 2023.

ANY OF THE ABOVE ITEMS MUST NOT BE USED AND MUST BE REMOVED FROM SERVICE IMMEDIATELY 

This recall applies to all galvanised strops with a Date of Manufacture – DoM – from 1st March 2023 (03/23)
Products with serial numbers from 5054 to 5502 are affected.

The strop on the left of the image shown below has a correctly terminated (swaged) eye. This is evident from the circular shape of the ferrule.
The strop on the right of the image shown below has an incorrectly terminated (swaged) eye. The ferrule is oval in shape.

Users must immediately inspect their SAR Galvanised Wire Anchor Strops and must quarantine any strop with incorrectly terminated eyes, or if there is any doubt about the terminations. The user should submit images to sales@sar-products.com for verification if they identify a potential issue. 

Stainless Steel Wire Anchor Strops are NOT affected by this notice.

Additional steps are already in place to ensure no reoccurrence of this event can occur.
