This system was first introduced to me by a company I am still working with (Aak AS, Anadalsnes, Norway) whilst assessing them in the rescue section of their technical rope access course in 1995
Used as part of their set kit for emergencies when working as senior safety supervisors on offshore oil and gas rigs. It is an ideal piece of kit for getting an injured worker up a cable line, off their activated lanyard or transferring rope to rope and many other uses not necessarily in rescue.
It is made from marine pulleys and 8mm kernmantle cord, has an integral twin cam brake that can be set at differing angles for positive locking or unlocking. It must always be used along with a safety back up system.
