The SAR Plastic Helmet was first made from GRP for the UK Maritime Coastguard Agency but due to unforeseen circumstances with the moulding it has now been changed to vacuum formed ABS, and is still the preferred helmet of the MRCA.

The SAR Helmet is also used by many other organizations around the World such as Police, Fire Services and Technical Access personnel. Obviously the ABS version is lighter than its GRP predecessor, but far less vulnerable to rough use. The head band adjustment is a central back screw type and has a webbing head cradle.

The screw adjuster is far stronger than those normally used and far more positive in its fitting. It also has a comfort band around the head band, a fully adjustable chin strap and side of head slider adjusters.
It also has head torch retaining elastic at the front and battery retaining elastic at the back.
Each helmet carries an individual serial number for inspection and traceability.
